Your ALPILLE runs on an Epson Cal. VX3SE multifunction quartz movement. It shows hours, minutes and seconds from the centre, plus three additional readings: the day of the week on the left, the date on the right, and a 24 hour display at the bottom. This guide walks you through the only settings you will ever need.
Identify each reading before you touch the crown.
Understanding your watch
Three sub-dials, three readings. None of them is a chronograph: your ALPILLE VX3SE displays the calendar and the time over 24 hours.
Day of the week
On the left of the dial. The hand is retrograde: it moves forward from Monday to Sunday, then flies back in one sweep to the start of the scale. It never steps backwards when you turn the crown the other way.
Date
On the right of the dial. It is set on its own, through quick correction, without disturbing the time.
24 hour display
At the bottom of the dial. It follows the time shown in the centre and tells you whether your watch is set to morning or afternoon.
Crown in the second position. Both settings are made together.
Setting the time and the day

Wait until the second hand reaches the 12 o'clock position.

Pull the crown out to the second click. The watch stops.

Turn the crown clockwise until you reach the day you want.

Keep turning to bring the hands to the correct hour and minutes, checking the 24 hour display to tell morning from afternoon.

Push the crown back to its normal position at the exact time signal.
Manufacturer tip: go 4 to 5 minutes past the exact minute, then turn gently back to the right minute. The setting is more precise that way.

Setting the date

Pull the crown out to the first click.

Turn the crown counter-clockwise until the correct date appears.

Push the crown back to its normal position.
Do not do this
Never set the date between 9 pm and 1 am. The date change mechanism is engaged during that window and quick correction may damage it. First move the hands outside that range, set the date, then set the time again.

Frequently asked questions
I turn the crown the other way and the date will not go back.
That is expected. Quick date correction works counter-clockwise only. Keep turning that way until the date you need comes round again.
The day hand suddenly jumps backwards.
That is how a retrograde day works: once it reaches the end of the scale, the hand returns to the start in a single movement. It is not a fault.
What is the small dial at the bottom for?
It shows the time over 24 hours and follows the main dial. It lets you check that your watch is set to the morning or to the afternoon.
My watch is running clearly off time.
